Here is a step by step guide to prepare you for sending files to us if you are using Windows to produce your documents!

Setting up a PostScript Printer

If you do not have a PostScript printer, or are unsure if you have a PostScript printer, then follow these steps to install one on your computer. 

1. Download ECRM Printer file. (WinZip format)
2. If you are using Windows XP, you will also need these files.
3. Unzip file to the desktop.  You should have a folder named ECRM Printer.
4. Depending on the version of Windows you are using, you will need to find the Add Printers panel. 
5. Click Add New Printer
6. Follow the Add New Printer Wizard using the ECRM desktop folder when it asks for a disk.

Installing a PPD

We support Quark XPress & Adobe PageMaker Documents.  Follow the appropriate instructions for installing the PPD file:

Quark XPress (Recommended)

1. Download the PPD, AUR3CTPW.ppd
2. Place the file in this folder on your computer: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

Adobe PageMaker 7.0

1. Download the PPD, AUR3CTPW.ppd
2. Place the file in this folder on your computer: C:\Program Files\Adobe\PageMaker7.0\RSRC\USENGLSH\PPD4

We are assuming that you installed PageMaker 7.0 with the default settings.  If not, you will need to find this folder and place the PPD into it.

Adobe PageMaker 6.5

1. Download the PPD, AUR3CTPW.ppd
2. Place the file in this folder on your computer: C:\PM6.5\RSRC\USENGLSH\PPD4

We are assuming that you installed PageMaker 6.5 with the default settings.  If not, you will need to find this folder and place the PPD into it.

Setting Up Adobe Acrobat Distiller

Although we currently support Quark and PageMaker source files, we strongly recommend submitting all files via PDF documents created in Adobe Acrobat.  If you are writing PDFs, Download this Job Options file.  Once downloaded, you will need to place it in your Adobe Settings Folder.  If you installed Acrobat using the default settings, it should be located in this path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Distiller\Settings 

After the file is copied, follow these steps:

1. Open Acrobat Distiller
2. Under Job Options, set to Midway
3. On the menu bar, click SETTINGS|JOB OPTIONS
4. Under the GENERAL tab, ensure that Compatibility is set to Acrobat 4.0.

If the folder is not located here, you will need to locate the folder manually or by using the search engine.  You will know it is the correct folder because at a minimum it will have files named ebook, press, print, & screen.
